The commonly used bulletproof vest is the US NIJ standard, which has six levels: Level I, IIA, II, IIIA, III, and IV.

The protective ability ranges from low to high, with Level IIIA requiring 9mm pistol bullets that can withstand micro impact firing, with a velocity of 420m/s; Each level below IIIA is equipped with a 9mm pistol and a bullet speed of 360m/s.

Most customers require the protection level of bulletproof vests to be level IIIA. Level III protection involves adding two 300mm 250mm ceramic composite plates at the front and back of the bulletproof vests, each with a thickness of 18mm and a weight of 2.6kg. This level requires protection against M80 bullets (7.62 51 bullets, bullet speed: 800m/s), as well as ordinary bullets fired by AK-47 and 56 rifles.

Level IV also requires the addition of ceramic plates, with a thickness of 21mm and a weight of 3.3kg. It is required to be able to withstand armor piercing bullets launched by M1, with a velocity of 850m/s.

Bulletproof vests below grade IIIA are soft and do not require ceramic panels. The bulletproof layer material of soft bulletproof vests can be divided into domestic and imported materials. The domestic material is white ultra-high strength polyethylene fiber; The imported material is KEVLAR yellow; The price of bulletproof vests is related to the materials used and also to the protective area. The larger the area, the higher the price. There are three common types of protective areas for bulletproof vests: vest type (0.27 ㎡), vest type (0.32 ㎡), and fully protected type (with a crotch protector of 0.60 ㎡).
